Why Is My Account Upgrade Being Considered A Downgrade Instead

This article is for cPanel Accounts. Determine where your account is with this guide.

If you are changing from an older plan to a newer plan, often times the new services will be an upgrade. However, if the new plan is lower in cost per month than your older plan, the change is considered a downgrade.

All downgrades forfeit any credit on your account and your billing dates will remain the same.

Accounts are generally considered to be upgrading if they are going from a lower priced shared hosting plan to a higher. Another upgrade process would be a shared account to a Cloud or Dedicated server account.

WestHost will migrate accounts free of charge for upgrades, but downgrades may not necessarily be covered for free transfer of website files, databases, or other associated site content.
