How To Write A Blog Post In WordPress

A post is similar to a web page in that it is a specific area on your website. However, posts appear under your blog section in reverse chronological order. This article will take you through the steps of writing and publishing a post on WordPress.

Step 1: Specify A Destination Page For Your Blog Posts

  1. Click “Settings” on the left menu. Then click “Reading”.

  1. Specify a destination page that will display your posts.

In this step, you will determine which of your previously created pages you wish your blog posts to appear on.

     3.   Edit the other options to meet your needs.

You will see several other options on this page, such as “Blog posts per page”, and whether to show a full blog post or just a summary. Depending on the style of your blog, you may want to tweak these settings.

Step 2: Write A Blog Post

  1. Click the “Posts” tab on the WordPress sidebar.

  2. Click “Add New”.

  1. Enter a title and add the content for your post.

You will notice at this point that the page you create to write the blog post looks very similar to that used to create a page. It works in the same way. You will compose your post in the text editor and you can preview it at any time.

You can also use different formats for different posts. These can be found on the right side of the editor.

    4.    Add Tags

Tags will not only facilitate navigation around your website, they also help with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Make sure your tags are simple and specific.

     5.    Click “Publish”.

After clicking “Publish”, your post will appear under the page you specified in Step 1.

Optional Step: Adding Media To Posts

The “Media” section of the WordPress sidebar allows you to upload images, audio, and video to use in posts or on pages. WordPress makes uploading media simple. You can simply drag and drop files onto this page, or use the upload button and select a file from your computer.

After you have uploaded a file, you can insert it into a post by clicking this button on the post page.

If you have any questions about this process, consult the WordPress Help Pages or contact technical support by creating a ticket or opening a chat.
