Dovecot is an open-source IMAP and POP3 server, written with security primarily in mind. Dovecot is an excellent choice for both small and large installations. It's fast, simple to set up, requires no special administration and it uses very little memory.
Installing Dovecot
1. Log in to your Site Manager.
2. Navigate to the Install & Manage page.
3. Find "Dovecot IMAP Server" and click the install button next to it.
4. Check the box to accept the terms, and click next.
5. Select/De-Select the option to enforce email quotas, then finish. (For Dovecot installs we recommend leaving this option unchecked.)
6. Dovecot will automatically convert your POP e-mail inboxes into IMAP folders. This may take several minutes to complete if you have a large number of users or big inboxes. If you are upgrading from the IMAP 1.0 service, it will NOT be automatically converted - please contact Support.
7. Once Dovecot has completed its installation, you can configure your e-mail accounts with IMAP or Secure POP. Regular POP connections will not work (port 110). Standard settings will be akin to the following:
Incoming
IMAP: Port 143
IMAP w/SSL: Port 993
POP w/SSL: Port 995
Outgoing server settings will not change. See the e-mail area of this knowledgebase for assistance with e-mail setup.
The Dovecot site application requires a dedicated IP address for your account. If your account does not have one, you will need to contact your hosting provider for details on adding a dedicated IP to your existing account or upgrading to an account that comes with a dedicated IP.
