Visitors trying to download a .docx file using IE8 will likely have it downloaded as a .zip file. This can just be renamed to resolve, but the source of the problem comes from how Microsoft and the world disagree on how .docx files should be interpreted. It works fine with Firefox, Safari, Chrome, IE9, etc.

It just doesn’t work with IE8 and Microsoft says it is a server configuration issue for MIME types, but most other people agree that IE8 should just recognize it.

Here are the Microsoft MIME types that may need to be added.
