The SQL Database holds important information for accessing, retrieving and editing your website. You can download a copy of your database to save as a backup in the event that your data needs to be restored. This article was created to demonstrate how to create and download a database file to use it to restore the MySQL Database.
|WestHost.com makes and stores regular backups of your website on our servers. We recommend that you also keep a backup for your own records as best practice. If you need to restore your website from the past seven days, please fill out a support ticket and include the date from the past seven days and any specific website, database or other content you would like to have restored.|
Within cPanel, navigate to the Backup Wizard tool by clicking on the “Backup Wizard” icon. You will use this to create your backups.
Click on the “MySQL Databases” button under the “Select Partial Backup” section.
Note: The file will automatically save in your Downloads folder. You will need to move it to a more permanent location using the file explorer. Make sure that you take a note of where you have saved this file, and the name and date, as you will need to refer to it later.
Click the “Restore” button.
Select “MySQL Databases”.
Click “Choose File”.
Select the backup file that you have previously downloaded to your computer.
Click “Upload” to complete your task
