Community Involvement
Each employee at WestHost enjoys many benefits from living and working in our local community. We recognize the importance of offering our time, resources, and talents to serve individuals and/or organizations that may stand in need. As a company, we are always interested in pursuing positive opportunities in this regard, and encourage our employees do so individually.
Below are some of our recent efforts:
Primary Children's Medical Center
For the last several years WestHost has been a sponser of Festival of Trees. Every penny raised at this event is used to provide medical care for needy children at the Primary Children's Medical Center.
USO (United Service Organizations)
WestHost recently donated to the USO; a congressionally chartered, nonprofit organization that provides morale, welfare, and recreation-type services to US men and women in uniform, and members of their families. The USO was established in 1941, and maintains more than 130 locations worldwide.
Extreme Makeover - Home Edition
ABC's Emmy Award winning television show came to Utah to build a new home for a local Polynesian family. The 11 member Danny Pauni family moved to Utah from Tonga in 1991. In 2004, Danny died tragically, leaving his wife, Janet, to care for the large family. Janet runs a Tongan catering business out of her home, and the rest of the family struggled to help her make ends meet.
Kartchner Homes, a local home developer led the campaign to secure contractors, volunteers, and donations. WestHost was happy to play a small part in helping with the web hosting needs for Kartchner and others to handle the large increase in traffic to their web sites as a result of publicity during the home building event.
Common Ground Outdoor Adventures
Common Ground Outdoor Adventures' mission is to provide life-enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities. They provide adaptive equipment and support, which enable people with disabilities to participate in outdoor recreation alongside their peers. These experiences reduce stereotypes, raise awareness, and empower people to realize their full potential. Their trips are not only accessible physically but also financially.
WestHost recently sponsored and participated in their annual fund raiser, and will be helping with the redesign of their web site, putting focus on making it more accessible to those with disabilities.
Sub For Santa
For the last several years WestHost has been involved with Sub for Santa, helping less fortunate kids during the Holiday Season. This year WestHost is sponsoring 75 children througout our local community.
Cache County Sub for Santa is a community-based program which seeks to promote and support the community's voluntary donations to individuals and families in need within Cache County during the Christmas season. The program strives to identify those in need and encourage and coordinate voluntary participation in providing assistance to them at Christmas. We always appreciate the opportunity to assist this organization.
New Police K-9
WestHost recently donated to the Cache County Sheriff's Department for the purchase of a second K-9 unit. In appreciation, their current K-9, named Tino, was brought to WestHost for a live demonstration.
Tino is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois from Holland. His commands are in Dutch and he has been with the Logan City Police Department for three years serving in both the detection of narcotics and apprehension of suspects. While here, Tino has located over 200 suspects and had six street bites. He has also located numerous narcotics while on patrol.
The Sheriffs Department was extremely appreciative of WestHost, and we enjoyed the opportunity for a demonstration of Tino's capabilities.
Adopt-A-Highway
A 2 mile stretch of highway in Mendon, Utah has been the responsibility of WestHost for the past number of years. Every few months our employees head out on a Saturday morning to pick up litter and debris as part of the Utah's Adopt-A-Highway program. It's been a great opportunity to contribute to the beauty of our community and to get outside and offer local service.
March of Dimes
WestHost has donated and participated in the March of Dimes walk in Logan, Utah. The March of Dimes is an organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We felt it was a good cause and something we enjoyed doing.
Hurricane & Tsunami Relief
In 2005, WestHost donated a portion of it's revenue to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief and Disaster Relief Funds to help in hurricane and tsunami relief. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those that have been affected by the hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami, and other natural disasters this year. We're thankful for all organizations that assisted in relief efforts.
