Firefox creates buzz around browser with 2012 Flicks Awards

Two things Mozilla Firefox does very well: Build a great browser AND deploy clever content marketing strategies.

One of the more imaginative ways it creates a buzz around its famous browser (and integrates social media) is the foundation of an annual film contest called Firefox Flicks that is open to a global audience.

The contest rules ask the video creators to create a short video, which highlights something great about Firefox. This includes speed, security or ease of use.

“Today we are awarding 25 stellar entries,” said Firefox, which highlight some really innovative and fun user-generated videos from its growing list of fans.

The global list of winners was announced at the recent 2012 Cannes Film Festival.  Edward Norton, famous Hollywood actor, was on hand to announce the winners.

Here are several of the top selections, which are being shared on small business websites hosted on professional hosting providers around the world:

Be a Hero
Bogotá, Columbia — Andres Felipe Mesa Rincon

Fenwick & Candy
Balmain, Australia — Gavin Fenwick Christensen, Candice Thom

I’m Falling in Love with Firefox
Cheongju-si, South Korea — Lee Sang Woo

Paranoid

Squares
Toronto, Canada – Eric Perella, Andre Arevalo, Mark Galloway

Where the Weird Things Are Not
Alarzia, Spain –– Ferran Brooks and Ivan Cordero Raiminguez

We will now be working with the winners on plans to incorporate their work into our global marketing campaigns.
